COACHING
Acculturation is the process in which an individual inherits practices and values from another culture while maintaining his or her distinct cultural attributes. Acculturation coaching sets up a precedent of understanding, empowers and equipps individuals to successfully navigate their new cultural dichotomies.
Acculturation Coaching offers tailored strategies for seamless integration and adaptation, including structural guidelines that are rooted in the mirage of core psychological needs and the situation -- specific senses of belonging. Belonging is an underlying principle of Acculturation Coaching, the driving force that enables an individual to recognize the uniqueness brought by their cultural experience in the context of their new environment.

IN ST. LOUIS
Why St. Louis? St. Louis is one of the leading cities for affordability and best places to live. St. Louis is also a boon for tech innovation and minority entrepreneurship.
The “Gateway to the West” is no stranger of a city when it comes to welcoming newcomers and ushering in new opportunities for immigrants and refugees. In fact, the US Census Bureau dubs St. Louis among the top 20 fastest-growing metro cities for immigrants, and recently, The George W. Bush Institute-SMU Economic Growth Initiative named St. Louis among the top metros for helping immigrants to succeed in 2022.
Countless opportunities here in St. Louis await young professionals abroad who migrate and are ready to study or engage in temporary work. Last year alone, Missouri was home to roughly 25,000 International students, which is a 71% increase from 2021 (OpenDoorsData). Conversely, there have been over 17,361 unskilled foreign laborers job opportunities since 2019, and half of these positions were unfilled according to the Department of Labor’s seasonal job portal.

CENTERED INITIATIVE
Consultation for Immigrant Centered Initiatives (CICI) is one of our most sought- after services due to the nature of complexities that surround immigration issues and engagements. There are currently several organizations who serve the immigrant community directly, while many corporations and academic institutions are still figuring out best practices to create opportunities and develop necessary capacity for international clientele. However, Barlay Consulting is here to fill that market gap.
Given our experience engaging and working with immigrant-driven organizations such as the International Institute of St. Louis, St. Louis Mosaic Project, and Immigrant Services Providers Network, Barlay Consulting is uniquely positioned to serve and assist the greater immigrant community in the region.
We hold the blueprint for our regional ecosystem, growing relationships with key stakeholders who are passionate about the future of St. Louis’ international community and workforce. iNTERN AND TRAINEE - J1 CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Barlay Consulting is committed to facilitating opportunities for recent college graduates and foreign professionals from various regions in Africa to come to the USA temporarily to gain exposure in U.S. culture, and to receive training in U.S. business practices. We are cultivating, nad enriching sustainable relationships with reputable institutions in St. Louis region as well as the Bi- State regions to create placement opportunities for prospective J1 Interns and Trainees.
Intern and Trainee is part of the Exchange Visitor Program also commonly known as J1 Visa. J1 is a non-immigrant visa that enables eligible international candidates to travel and gain experience in the United States by participating in work- and study-based programs. Since its inception in 1961, the Exchange Visitor Program has engaged over millions of foreign nationals who come to the United States to gain exposure to U.S. culture and to receive hands-on experience in U.S. business practices in their chosen occupational field.
The State Department issued 6,178,355 J-1 visas between 2001 and 2021. Simarily, the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program receives almost 300,000 international foreign nationals from 200 nations and territories visiting the United States annually.
